College
Haven't updated in like what..4 months?
Been lazy + busy, but I really like to look back on my life so forcing myself to type stuff up as I'm at home right now.
So Taiwan was fun but not gonna type those up cuz too much details.
UW has been alright.
Moved in on 9/22
originally really eager to move out, but when the date got close...
and esp the day of...
yeah...
some tears formed when i was on the car
Our room is hella nice tho, cuz its one of the disability ones, which is bigger than usual
Especially our bathroom...I wish the bathroom was smaller so our sleeping/working space could be bigger though. But not complaining!
Our view is hella nice too.
As for roommates, haven't had much time to bond with them. But we have though.
Went on a spontaneous trip to Northgate with LC
and all 3 of us have talked about random stuff so yeah
but there really isn't much time to talk, most of the time it's just all busy with our work at night
LC (omg i realized they both have the same initials), I will call the taiwanese one LWC then.
LWC is such a dear. Friday was my cs midterm and she offered to make me 肉燥飯 for lunch xD
More on dorming life...
i like cooking but hard to find time. im also always scared that other people are gonna be in there.
One time I was making 馬鈴薯燉肉 and there was no one in there when i went in, but then after like 10 minutes, a guy came in, and he was like so what are u making? and im like umm chinese food. and then he said hes gonna turn the blinds cuz they were reflecting on the TV, and i said yeah yeah go ahead, and then he proceeded to watch tv (cartoons). kinda good that he was in there tho cuz my thought process was that if people wanted to use the kitchen and saw that there was someone already in there, they would be less likely to come in.
Anyways, so indeed, no one came in except for this one girl who came in to wash a dish.
Been using my dining account more since its halfway through the quarter now. But kinda hard to find what to eat..lopo..idk man. I use it more in DM.
Now for classes.
CS lectures are fine cuz I always sit with IZ. The number of people in lecture is crazy though...700+ people..that's like more than our HS graduating class (~460)! CS sections are ok..made a friend in there, but I feel like people in the class are pretty good at programming, which makes me feel even less confident in myself. TA pretty chill. CS has been hard af though, but you feel so accomplished when you finish coding something. Still, not the kind of thing I'd want to do.
Midterm yesterday was not as bad as I expected but still ehh. Really easy to make mistakes on the mechanical stuff, so I'm expecting to make stupid n careless mistakes there. As for the programming ones...it'd be miracle if I get those right. As for the last hard question..pretty much just guessed like 4 lines of code..
HSTAA...regret taking this class. There's so much work >.<
So much reading, and then there's freaking participation points in sections..
Man bun TA pretty chill though, like he makes the atmosphere feel welcoming and not that scary to participate, but ehh..only participated once so far. Need to get on that though.
Pretty much everyone in my class participates every time.
INFO lectures are ok. Pretty much sit next to different person every time, but met another freshman DA like me last Tue and we sat together again on Thu and shes in CS too so we'll see how that develops. Sections are kind of a no though. TA nice, but I mean TA doesn't really do anything much. My group though...hmm I will refrain from detailed comment except for wo bu shi hen xi huan.
After finals last night, went to Spring Kitchen with GG and her friend. Had pho, then went back to GG's room (also in Lander). Her roommate went to her aunt's or something so it was just us 3. We had a fun talk until like 10:30. Nice conversations about music (type of music, lyrics, melody), and dramas/film. GG also gave me a pack of ramen special from wu han. So nice (:
Also talked about going karoking..hopefully that'll happen sometime!
So I won a raffle from a new apartment opening's party. Didn't think I'd win anything cuz they contacted me like a day after but I was really excited though. Turns out I won trip to Victoria, BC (basically $152 gift card). Anyways, so now I'm trying to decide if I should go during winter break or in the summer. Parent's didn't really object when I said I wanted to go alone (new experience!), but dad advised not going for winter break since weather. But idkk do I wanna see the experience the Christmas-y atmosphere or do I want to be able enjoy the sun and nice breeze?
Decisions, decisions.
I guess that'll be it for now. Hope I'll get successfully get through this quarter...really concerned for research paper for HSTAA and finals/project. I'm so concerned about HSTAA sigh, I JUST NEED THE DAMN DIVERSITY CREDIT.
Anyways, hope I'll survive!
