End of School Celebration!
Haven't posted in 2 months, but finally have the time to post since it's Winter Break now.
Friday after school, after the Winter Assembly, SL and I went to LL's place to watch
我的少女時代, we've been dying to watch this since it came out in August. There were no surprises in the movie, I feel like that's just what these type of movies are like...no surprises.
But, it wasn't bad. There was 2 sad parts but not the kinds that would make you sob. Just tears in the eyes.
After the movie, we took the bus to Seattle to meet up with LL's sis so we could go to Oriental Express or something like that. But first, after we got to Seattle, we went into Uwajimaya's bookstores to look around. And then we got to the restaurant + karaoke.
The 3 of us got the VIP room (which was hugee), while LL's sister and her around 10(?) friends got situated in a room that was like half our size. We were gonna switch rooms but the ppl said since the group coming after us is big, it's easier for them to clean up after 3 ppl than like 10 ppl.
Our room had a stronger scent of cigarette smoke in it tho, which was a minus.
Minimum order for each person is $18, that's why the karaoke comes with it.
I thought I would have quite a lot of break while SL and LL sang Khalil Fong, but I ended up singing like 70% of the songs..my poor throat!
We ordered lemon honey water (a bit too much honey), fried cheese crab wontons, pad thai, this seafood mix (more veggies than seafood -.-), and 2 bowls of rice. The portion wasn't big for its price. But then again, we weren't there to get good food for its price, we were there to sing.
Food was alright. Rice could've been better.
Drink was normal sized glasses, each for $4. 4 BUCKS CAN U BELIEVE THAT. AND NO REFILLS. But we had to get up to $54 total, so it was alright.
We were singing pretty chill until like 9:25 when LL noticed the time and we were shocked b/c of our time ended at 10. (we get the room from 7-10pm). So then for every song, we'd just fast forward to the chorus, sing that, and then skip to the next one. We did finish every song we queued at that point...but still, there were a lot of songs we did not queued that we could've.
We only sang 1 English song (i thought we would sing more..but I'm ok with that!) and that was Khalil Fong's version of "Nothing's Gonna Change my Love for You".
There were leftover food, so we got those to-go.
Honestly, because we were so focused on singing, you really don't have time to eat lol. 3 hours just ain't enough. (Enough for your voice, but not enough for the party as a whole).
After paying, (ended up with each person=$23 plus tip), and then we migrated to LL's sis and her friend's smaller room and sat (and sing a couple more songs) until 10ish almost 11(I got home at like 11 almost 30) . The people in there sang so well!!! And LL and I ordered 中國話 by S.H.E. to only sing the chorus, but one of the guy's in there, his name was Ben I think, ended up singing the whole rap/tongue twister, and he could keep up too! Much talent. Much talent. Applause. Laughter.
That's about it. 'Twas a good celebration with close friends for start of break and end of 2015. First time karaoke-ing was a good experience (or maybe there are no other experiences to compare this one too). But the people you're with really makes a difference. With ppl u know well and feel comfortable with, you can go crazy and anything would be fun.
Something I'd like to applaud singers for, is their ability to sing songs for so long (like at concerts) and still keep the quality. And those like 唱跳歌手 like Show Luo, HOW DO THEY DO IT? It's so tiring..I was totally out of breath from just some movements.
Thanks LL's sis for driving us! And thank you, dear friends, for a fun night.
Another thing worth mentioning, that I kept in mind since Thursday was that...it's been a year. One year since my cousin left. us. Friday marked the 1 year (in TW time), or today, Saturday (PST time).
I realized that both last year and this year, I've spent this time with my friends. Last year, my friends and I were at SN's house baking for KPMT, and this year, I was out karaoke-ing.
Two very fun, crazy nights instead of staying home and thinking about depressing stuff.
One year already...wonder how the family feels. I've dreamed about you i think twice in this one year that passed. One was really memorable, and even helped me make a decision that was one definitely worth. Thank you.

And life goes on, which seems kind of strange and cruel when you’re watching someone die. |
Where are you now?
